Dr. Arnstine

Hi, I'm Dr. Arnstine, but my patients call me Dr. Richard. I have been in and around orthodontics all my life. My father, Dr. Arthur Arnstine, started this practice in 1954. When I was a young boy, I used to come into my father's office and watch in awe, all the changes my father made in peoples lives. He didn't just straighten his patients’ teeth; he enhanced the quality of their lives. I knew then and there that I wanted to be a part of something incredible: helping people to help themselves, through the magic of orthodontics.

I attended The Ohio State University from 1973 -1977, where I majored in Finance. I received a Bachelor of Science degree, and was also inducted into the Honors Finance Fraternity. In 1981 I graduated from Case Western Reserve Dental School, after which I moved to Chicago where I attended Northwestern University. I received by certificate in orthodontics in 1983, some 50 years after my father had received his orthodontic certificate from Northwestern. To the best of my knowledge, we were the first father/son to have received Orthodontic degrees from Northwestern at that time.

In July of 1983, I returned to Cleveland and joined my father, Dr, Arthur Arnstine, and my former partner, Dr. Bernard Friedman, in a three-man orthodontic practice. I am fortunate to have practiced with my father for four years before his retirement and look back upon those years as being some of the most special of my professional career. I am excited to say that I am still creating beautiful smiles in the same office location in Shaker Heights that my father built over 45 years ago.

I am Past President of the Cleveland Society of Orthodontists as well as Past President of the Cleveland Academy of Advanced Dental Education. I actively participate in many different dental and orthodontic organizations on local, state and national levels. I am also a member of the Super Shulman Orthodontic Study Club, which is comprised of top orthodontic practitioners in the county. I am committed to staying on the forefront of orthodontic science by continuously attending numerous continuing education courses. I have been a guest lecturer in the past at a number of universities: Case Western Reserve University, The Ohio State University and University of Pittsburgh.

The biggest part of my life, however, is my family: my wife of 21 years, Denise; my two daughters, Nicole and Melissa; and my son Matt. I love spending my "downtime" just being with them.

My goal is to create an environment that will allow and encourage people to accept responsibility for their health and help them to define their own success while participating in the process. I believe we have met these goals head on, and we will constantly work on surpassing them.
